UTA Execs should try riding the bus Salt Lake Tribune

Letter: UTA execs should try riding the bus

Public transportation is not working in Salt Lake County. The people who run UTA, a public agency, should be required by law to use public transportation.

If UTA officials were required to take a UTA bus, they would learn that their website is a mess and their buses do not go when or where they are needed. If you want to take a bus to ski and have dinner in the canyons, you cannot return home in the evening via bus. If you live on the east bench and want to take a bus to downtown Salt Lake City to work, you must take two buses and arrive one hour and nine minutes later.

Many of us would like to use the bus system, but find it impractical. If only the people who ran the system had to use it, the bus system would become more practical and more used. If we want public transportation to play a meaningful role in improving our air, we must make it practical to use.
